2. What's my major? That's a great question! Undecided.
...but I will graduate spring 2017.
3. I am interested in the art of photography and have long been inspired by moments that can be captured forever. I hope to learn digital/ film techniques such as working with prints and editing.
4. My goals after graduation:
-5 years: I hope to have started my beautiful, predestined life in New York City & travelling often as well.
-3 years: I hope to have started some kind of career in a job that I am passionate about.
-2 years: I really just hope to be happy and continuing to inspire people with who I am.
-1 year: Maybe I'll be starting my sophomore year of college. Probably. Maybe here at TAMUC, maybe not. I would love to get to New York as soon as possible. We'll see. Fate knows.
-6 months: I hope to have learned many new things and grown as a person. That's all I can hope for.
5. Blank influenced me/ my work:
-Artists: No artists in specific. I really don't know too much about art.
-Musicians: Now we're talking. The music I listen to is eclectic and diverse. The Australian, country musician Keith Urban is the human who has most influenced who I am. His love for music, his fans and family, and his passion for charity has for many years inspired me to be a better person. I recently met him on August 17th, 2013. I cried my eyes out. I listen to 90's bands and local artists also. I am a fan of Birdy, Third Eye Blind, Sarah Jaffe, Matchbox Twenty, Miley Cyrus, and m83 (only to name a few of the 300+ CD's I have.
-Photographers: I am not influenced by any photographer in particular, but I do like the work of Chelsea Donoho.
-Writers: Any writer whose words involve living a good, happy, full life will bring me joy.
-Movies: I am thoroughly inspired by the cinematography of the movie Spring Breakers. I also deeply love the movies 13 Going on 30, The Vow, Eat Pray Love, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and sooo many more.
-Books: (Surprisingly) Hilary Duff novels, Enjoy Every Sandwich by Dr. lee Lipsenthal, Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, The Lovely Bones, 13 Reasons Why.
6. Where do you get info about current national/ international events?
-The internet, duh!
7. Any important websites you reference for art/ photo/ info?
-I am fascinated by the art of lomography and the unpredictable outcomes. The lomo website, lomography.com, contains thousands of lomo photographs and the online store sells beautiful vintage lomo cameras. I have a Diana Dreamer.
8. What museums/ galleries have you been to in the past year?
-Unfortunately none, but when I was in New York last June, I rode a bus that drove down Museum Mile and went by the Guggenheim and The Met!
9. Any photo projects/ training in the past?
-Senior year of high school, I was in a photojournalism class (the only photo class offered at my school). Sadly, we did not have a permanent teacher until springtime, so it was a lot of substitute teachers and busy work if any and we didn't learn much at all.
10. Value of art for the artist?
-To the artist, the art has a backstory- a secret- a piece of them that only they know. That's the point of art I think.
11. Value of art for the audience?
-To the audience, the art should display a piece of the artist. The audience should be able to learn something about the artist from their work.
12. Photography: Vocation or avocation?
-If one is really passionate about photography, it can be both. Photography should be an avocation first, of course.
13. What is your passion?
-Being happy. Living well. Inspiring people- people who need me- who need light.
14. What are you afraid of/ makes you uncomfortable?
-I don't have any specific fears. I think if you have fears and are reluctant to try things, you're not really living. So don't hold back.
15. Do you have a passport?
YES!!!!!!!!!! I hope to use it more frequently as I grow older traveling all over the world and meeting tons of incredible people.
16. Why did you sign up for this class? What do you hope to learn?
-Photography is a possibility for my major/ career choice; if so, I have a plethora of things left to learn, and I'm interested in that- learning. I can't picture (pun intended) myself at a desk all day, every day performing a job I more than likely do not enjoy. So many people do that. Why? I don't get it. At the end of this class, I hope to know whether or not photography is something I am serious about pursuing because as of right now, I'm simply unsure.
